  8. subliminal way through most of human history is clear enough. 
  9. Just why we are no longer content to leave our experience in 
  10. this subliminal state, and why many people have begun to get 
  11. very conscious about the unconscious, is a question well worth 
  12. investigation. People are nowadays much concerned to set 
  13. their houses in order, a process of self-consciousness that has 
  14. received large impetus from photography.
